National Health Information Merit Award, July 2009

UCare’s "Good Beats" kit, developed by UCare's Disease Management group to help our Medicare members manage their high blood pressure, won a Merit Award in the Patient Education Information-Book category of the 16th annual National Health Information Awards. This honor program is conducted by the Health Information Resource Center, a national, private-sector clearinghouse that recognizes the nation's best consumer health information programs and materials.

Paul & Sheila Wellstone Public Health Achievement Award, June 2009

Carol Berg, UCare's Public Health and County Manager, was honored with the 2009 Paul & Sheila Wellstone Public Health Achievement Award from the Minnesota Public Health Association (MPHA). The award recognizes an individual who has distinguished him/herself in public health through an outstanding contribution, which exemplifies MPHA's mission to promote and protect the health of individuals, families, and the community.

National Mature Media Bronze Award, June 2009

UCare's MSHO Strong & Stable Kit recieved a 2009 National Mature Media Award from the Mature Market Resource Center, a national clearinghouse for older adult programs. The Kit received a Bronze Award in the Consumer Education Program category. The Kit's contents help UCare's MSHO members increase their strength and balance, manage their medications, and make their home safer.

Jefferson Award Winner, Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, March 2009

UCare’s 14 community programs and high rate of employee volunteerism were recognized with a Jefferson Award for Corporate Philanthropy from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. Read about the recognition in an article published in the Journal on March 20, 2009.

Beth Monsrud, UCare’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, was named one of 25 "Women to Watch" — leaders to keep an eye on for continued success in a variety of professions — by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal in May 2009.

Start! Fit-Friendly Companies Program Platinum Award, 2008

After winning the Start! Fit Friendly Company Gold Level Award from the American Heart Association (AHA) in 2007, UCare’s RENEW employee wellness program surpassed it in 2008 with the highest Platinum Level Award. Award criteria include support for physical activity, a wellness culture, implementation of at least nine AHA criteria for physical activity, nutrition, and culture; and an outstanding employee participation rate.

National Aster Awards, Excellence in Medical Marketing, Gold Award, 2008

The Spring 2007 issue of PrimeTime, UCare’s newsletter for members of our UCare for Seniors Medicare Advantage plan, won a 2008 Gold Aster Award in the "HMO/PPO/Managed Care/Insurance" and "External Newsletter–Single" categories. The Aster Awards Program is an elite competition recognizing excellence in health care marketing and advertising.

Hennepin County’s Wellness by Design Worksite Gold Award, 2007 and 2008

UCare’s RENEW employee wellness program received Hennepin County’s Wellness by Design Worksite Gold Awards two years in a row. The county’s annual program recognizes outstanding efforts by business and educational organizations to ensure healthy work environments and encourage healthy employee lifestyles.

Start! Fit-Friendly Companies Program Gold Award, 2007

UCare’s employee wellness program, RENEW, received a Gold Level Start! Fit Friendly Company award from the American Heart Association (AHA) in 2007. This national award program recognizes organizations that demonstrate progressive leadership by prioritizing the health and wellness of their employees.

National Mature Media Merit Award Winner, 2004

PrimeTime, our UCare for Seniors newsletter, was honored with this national award in 2004. The publication won the National Mature Media Merit Award in the health care newsletter category of the 2004 Annual National Mature Media program. This annual program recognizes the nation’s best advertising, marketing, and educational materials for adults age 50 and over.

Ellis J. Bonner Community Leadership Award Winner, America's Health Insurance Plans, 2003

This prestigious national award recognized our work to improve the health of the Minnesota Hmong community. UCare committed significant staff and financial resources to this project, reaching thousands of Hmong families in and beyond as well as health care practitioners throughout the world. The project's Hmong Peer Education Project trained Hmong people to teach other Hmong about health care; its Hmong Shamanism Study examined the relationship between traditional Hmong healing methods and medicine; and its Hmong Summer Festival Health Fair offered health information and screenings to the community.

Most Innovative Women, City Business, 2001

Nancy Feldman, UCare President and Chief Executive Officer since 1995, was named one of the 25 Most Innovative Women in Business by City Business (now The Business Journal) in July 2001. She was honored for her leadership and innovation in developing our Medicare Advantage plan, UCare for Seniors. Her award nomination highlighted her dedication to operating a small, member-focused health plan that would truly affect the lives of Medicare and Medicaid enrollees. Feldman has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 1995.

Corporate Award, Jewish Vocational Services, 2001

In 2001, UCare received the International Association of Jewish Vocational Services Corporate Award. Presented to only three companies internationally, this award recognized the successful partnership between UCare and Jewish Vocational Services (JVS) from 1998 to 2003. Not only did the program help train people who may not otherwise have had opportunities for gainful employment, but UCare eventually hired some of the participants.

Ellis J. Bonner Community Leadership Award Finalist, America's Health Insurance Plans, 2000

UCare was named a finalist for the 2000 Ellis J. Bonner Community Leadership Award in honor of its contributions to the Health Fair 11 partnership with KARE 11 and Cub Pharmacy. The mission of this nonprofit organization is to provide health care education, materials for consumers, and free or low-cost screenings to members of our community. 

Great Places to Work, City Business, 2000

UCare was one of 10 Twin Cities-area honorees in the 2000 Great Places to Work competition, sponsored by City Business (now The Business Journal). Highlighted perks of working at UCare included flexibility, a supportive work environment, rewards for a job well done, and the opportunity to provide input. Hennepin County's Best Overall Employee Wellness Award , 2000

Hennepin County's Health Promotions Division recognized UCare for its commitment to employee wellness in 2000 with the Best Overall Employee Wellness Award. The objective of the UCare Employee Wellness Program is to offer a broad and diverse selection of programs, information, and activities that recognize, educate, and promote healthy choices for the mind, body, and soul.
