Prepaid General Assistance Medical Care (PGAMC)
PGAMC* is a health care program that pays for medical services for low-income Minnesotans who don’t quality for Medical Assistance or other state or federal health care programs. These are mostly low-income adults between the ages of 21 and 64 who don’t have dependent children. PGAMC helps people get the care they need to be healthy. This includes coverage for hospital stays, rehabilitation services, and preventive care. To qualify for PGAMC, you must meet income and other eligibility requirements.
UCare partners with the Minnesota Department of Human Services to offer PGAMC in 55 counties in Minnesota. UCare has been serving people enrolled in PGAMC since 1985.
If you choose UCare as your health plan for PGAMC, you can take advantage of these helpful programs and services:
- Transportation to and from health care services.
- Disease management programs for members with chronic conditions.
- Access to UCare Tooth Care (our mobile dental unit), and help getting dental appointments within 30 days.
- Large network of health care providers.
- Free quit smoking programs.
- Mammogram reward program.
