Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT)

EFT is the most cost-effective and paperless way of doing business for our valued providers for claim payments. Through a secured automated clearing house (ACH) process, you will be able to receive your claim payments directly deposited into your bank account and streamline your account receivables. Although EFT is not mandatory when you request to receive 835s or electronic remittance advices (ERAs), this option is available for those who are interested. Please note UCare runs payable claims on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for Minnesota providers, and Thursdays for Wisconsin providers.

Starting in 2009, there are three electronic health care transactions that were set forth by the Minnesota statute, section 62J.536. The last set of transactions for health care providers is to be ready to receive the 835s or ERAs by December 15, 2009.

There are two ways you can receive the 835s or ERAs from UCare. You can receive the 835s from a clearing house that has a connection with UCare, or retrieve the ERAs from our secure web portal, Access UCare.

To start the process of receiving 835s and ERAs, you must follow these steps below:

  1.

Contract with a clearinghouse that currently works with UCare to ensure format capability of the 835 files. A list of clearing houses is listed below for your convenience.

(Note: If you are electing to receive EFTs with 835s, you must contract with a clearing house to receive the 835 transaction before we can set you up with EFT.)

    - or -

Register for Access UCare to retrieve your ERAs from our secure web portal.

(Note: If you are prefer to retrieve your ERA from the web portal, you will need to register for Access UCare to receive a login and password, and complete the Provider Payment Election Form.)

  2. Download the "Provider Payment Election Instructions" and the "Provider Payment Election Form."
  3. Read the instructions first, and then complete the authorization form in its entirety.
  4. Send in your completed authorization form to the address listed in the instructions sheet and wait for confirmation from UCare.

If you have any questions regarding the EFT and/or 835 process, please contact UCare via e-mail at EFT835@ucare.org
