ERA and EFT Information

Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) are the most cost-effective and paperless way of doing business for our valued providers for claim payments. Through a secured automated clearinghouse (ACH) process, you will be able to receive your claim payments directly deposited into your bank account and streamline your account receivables. With receiving 835s/ERAs right at your fingertips, you'll be able to see which claims have been processed right away.

Although EFT is not mandatory when you request to receive ERAs/835s, EFT is an option that is available for those who are interested instead of receiving paper checks.  Please note UCare runs payable claims on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for Minnesota providers, and Thursdays for Wisconsin providers.

Important Notice:

Effective 09/20/10, UCare will discontinue sending out paper remittance advices (RAs) to Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) providers.  As required by the Minnesota state statute, section 62J.536, all MHCP providers were required to receive ERAs/835s effective 12/15/09.

If your organization is currently receiving paper RAs from UCare, you must take immediate action to avoid interruptions to your account reconciliations.  Please complete the "Provider Payment/Remittance Advice Election Form" by clicking on the link below to notify us your RA selection and if you would like to enroll in EFT or not.

There are two ways you can receive the 835s/ERAs from UCare. You can receive the 835s from a clearinghouse that has a connection with the clearinghouse that UCare is contracted with, RelayHealth, or retrieve the ERAs from the UCare Provider Portal.

To start the process of receiving 835s/ERAs, you must follow these steps below:

  1.

Contract with a clearinghouse that currently has connections with RelayHealth.

(Note:  If you are electing to receive 835s, you must register with a clearinghouse to receive 835s before UCare can send the 835s to your clearinghouse and before you can complete and submit the Provider Payment/RA Election Form.)

    - or -

Register for the UCare Provider Portal to retrieve your ERAs from our secure web portal.

(Note:  If you prefer to retrieve your ERAs from the UCare Provider Portal, your organization must have access to it first. Once you complete the registration and receive a confirmation, you may complete and submit the Provider Payment/RA Election Form.)

  2. Complete the Provider Payment/Remittance Advice Election form on page 2.  Use the instructions on page 1 as a guide when filling out the form.
  3. Once you complete the form, mail or fax it in to UCare. The address or fax number is listed in "Step 2" of the instructions.
