  • Funding determinations are made by early July 2008. The 2008 funding cycle occurs Aug. 1, 2008-July 31, 2009.
Notification:

  • If an application falls outside the geographic or programmatic purview of the UCare Fund, the UCare Fund will notify the applicant immediately by letter and the application will receive no further consideration.
  • The UCare Fund will send written notice of the Council's decision to the applicant by July 1.
  • Grant recipients must complete and return grant agreement before the UCare Fund can release the grant funds.
  • Payment is scheduled after a signed grant agreement is received.
Conditions of Grants and Reporting:

  • Grantees are required to participate in a three month on-site visit and to submit an interim and final report. The reporting requirements are modeled after the Minnesota Common Reporting Forms and include financial reporting.
Research grant
How to apply for a research Grant:

  • In the preliminary stages, telephone inquiries or emails to discuss potential projects or programs are encouraged, but not required. Letters of Inquiry are also encouraged but not required.
  • Please use the UCare Fund Research Grant Application.
Review process for research grants:

  • Research applications are reviewed in two stages. Each request for research support is carefully reviewed by a Peer Review Panel to determine if it meets established criteria. Each proposal is evaluated according to the following criteria: support of UCare's mission statement, methodology, research significance or importance, personnel and qualifications, budget. Points are assessed in each of the above categories.
  • The Peer Review Panel makes recommendations to the UCare Fund Council who conducts a second review for final funding determinations.
Community grant
How to apply for a community grant:

  • In the preliminary stages, telephone inquiries or emails to discuss potential projects or programs are encouraged, but not required. Letters of Inquiry are also encouraged but not required.
  • Community Project Proposals should use the Minnesota Common Grant Application.
Review process for community grants:

  • Community grant applications are reviewed in two stages: a preliminary and final review for decision. UCare Fund staff review applications to determine whether a proposal generally falls within the Fund's giving guidelines, including how the application supports UCare's mission and guidelines. UCare staff will investigate the proposal, and request additional information if necessary. The UCare Fund Council makes the final funding determinations.
