Carelon to provide utilization management of genetic testing authorizations

As announced in the May 1 Provider Bulletin, UCare has partnered with Carelon to perform utilization management review for genetic testing authorizations for dates of service July 1, 2025, and later. This change will apply to genetic testing services for members in all UCare products, except Medicare Supplement plans.

For genetic testing scheduled to occur through June 30, 2025: Work with UCare to obtain all prior authorization for genetic testing.

For genetic testing taking place on or after July 1, 2025: Starting June 16, 2025, contact Carelon for prior authorization.

For SNF Medically Necessary Private Room Requests, UCare will accept either the DHS Private Room Request Form found in the DHS Nursing Home portal or the necessary details added to the Nursing Home/Swing Bed Admission/Update Form.
