UCare Medicare Supplement Plans are closed
Important update
UCare Medicare Supplement Plans are not available in 2026.
Your Original Medicare coverage through the federal government or separate Part D prescription drug plan aren't affected by this change.
We’re here to help you understand what it means and what steps you need to take.
Next steps: Enroll in a new plan
It’s important to choose new coverage for 2026. You can enroll in a new Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan or consider a Medicare Advantage plan (if eligible).
Guaranteed enrollment
Because your plan ended, you have guaranteed rights to buy a Basic Medicare Supplement plan from any company that sells it in Minnesota. These rights mean:
- The insurance company must sell you a policy
- They must cover pre-existing conditions
- They cannot charge you more because of any health issues
You’ll need to enroll within 63 days of receiving your termination letter to take advantage of these rights. You received this letter in the mail from UCare. The last day to use guaranteed issue rights to enroll in a new Medicare Supplement plan is March 4, 2026.
What happens if I do nothing?
If you do nothing, you will remain on Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) and keep any standalone Part D prescription drug plan you already have. However, you will not have supplemental coverage for deductibles, coinsurance and copays. Typically, Original Medicare only covers 80% of medical costs.
