Hepatitis A outbreak

In early August 2019, Minnesota declared an outbreak of hepatitis A. Hepatitis A outbreaks have been occurring across the U.S. since late 2016.

People at highest risk in this outbreak are:

  • People who use drugs (injection or non-injection)
  • People experiencing homelessness or unstable housing
  • People who are or have recently been incarcerated

The best way to prevent hepatitis A is to get vaccinated. If you have questions about what your health plan covers, call the Customer Services number on the back of your member identification (ID) card.
