Who can get a UCare plan? Is UCare only for Medicare?
UCare has plans for everybody. We have Medicare plans for those ages 65 and older, Individual & Family Plans for those who buy their health coverage on their own and Medicaid plans for people of all ages with lower incomes.
How is UCare connected to MNsure?
MNsure is Minnesota’s health insurance marketplace. UCare is an independent health plan with Individual & Family Plans available on MNsure. Actually, we’re the #1 plan on MNsure, with more than twice as many members as other plans.
Is UCare a part of the University of Minnesota?
UCare was started in 1984 by University of Minnesota physicians who were looking for a stable, reliable health plan to serve lower-income patients.
Now, UCare is independent from the University of Minnesota and has grown to provide health coverage and services across Minnesota and western Wisconsin for Medicare-eligible individuals, individuals and families choosing health coverage through MNsure, and individuals and families enrolled in Medicaid and MinnesotaCare.
How does UCare give back to its community?
UCare is a mission-driven organization dedicated to improving the health of our members and community.
Our action in the community takes many shapes: funding critical services through the UCare Foundation, health education and outreach, "boots-on-the-ground" employee volunteering, sponsoring high-impact community partners and supporting local connection-building events.
Does UCare use actors in its commercials?
We get this question a lot. And we love answering it! Everyone you see in our commercials wearing a blue T-shirt (on the 5-person bike or off) is a real, hardworking UCare employee.
You'll also see many bona fide UCare members in our commercials. The people we feature in our member stories are always real UCare members and their stories are true!
